Traffic slows down and eventually leads to a complete failure of brain function<\/strong><\/span>. <br>\r\nMany drugs have been developed to resolve this traffic, but <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>a major issue with drug administration to the brain is that the brain is separated from the rest of our body by a highly selective barrier known as the blood-brain barrier<\/strong><\/span> to prevent the entry of unwanted substances. This is where my project comes in. <br>\r\n\u3053\u306e\u7814\u7a76\u306e keyword \u306f cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) \u3067\u3059\u304c\u3001\u3053\u308c\u306f\u300c\u8133\u8840\u6db2\u95a2\u9580\u306e\u5b58\u5728\u3067\u3001\u8840\u6db2\u304b\u3089\u8133\u306b\u85ac\u3092\u52b9\u7387\u7684\u306b\u5c4a\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u306a\u3044\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u554f\u984c\u3092\u63d0\u793a\u3057\u305f\u5f8c\u306b\u8ff0\u3079\u306a\u3044\u3068\u610f\u5473\u304c\u306a\u3044\u306e\u3067\u3001Describe the Issue \u306e\u6b21\u3068\u3044\u3046\u9806\u5e8f\u306b\u306a\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>Research Question<\/strong><br>\r\nI&#8217;m Nazira Albargothy, and I&#8217;m funded by Biogen pharmaceuticals <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>to create a map of the exact pathway of drug entry into the brain from the CSF<\/strong><\/span>. And I present it to you here as <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>a Google Brain Map with the routes corresponding to the drug pathways<\/strong><\/span>. <br>\r\n\u4f7f\u7528\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u30b9\u30e9\u30a4\u30c9\u3067 Google Maps \u3092\u30a4\u30e1\u30fc\u30b8\u3055\u305b\u3001\u8133\u306b\u85ac\u3092\u5c4a\u3051\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306e Google Brain Map \u3092\u4f5c\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u7814\u7a76\u306e\u76ee\u7684\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u793a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>Methods<\/strong><br>\r\nTo achieve this, I <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>injected<\/strong><\/span> drugs into the CSF of normal and diseased mouse models and <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>explored<\/strong><\/span> where they went. And I have some findings. <br>\r\n\u8907\u96d1\u306a\u5b9f\u9a13\u5185\u5bb9\u3092 injected \u3084 explored \u306a\u3069\u306e\u30b7\u30f3\u30d7\u30eb\u306a\u52d5\u8a5e\u3067\u8868\u73fe\u3057\u3001\u8996\u899a\u7684\u306b\u60f3\u50cf\u3057\u3084\u3059\u3044\u3088\u3046\u306b\u8aac\u660e\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>Results<\/strong><br>\r\n<span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>I identified the exact routes<\/strong><\/span> along which these drugs enter the brain from the CSF. And more importantly, I found that <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>some drugs penetrated the better than others<\/strong><\/span>. This already tells us that the CSF route has major capacity for efficient drug delivery to the brain. And <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>we may even be able to direct different drugs to different brain regions based on the characteristics of the drug<\/strong><\/span>. <br>\r\n\u300c\u85ac\u3054\u3068\u306b\u6d78\u900f\u30eb\u30fc\u30c8\u304c\u9055\u3046\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u91cd\u8981\u306a\u767a\u898b\u3092\u308f\u304b\u308a\u3084\u3059\u304f\u63d0\u793a\u3059\u308b\u3060\u3051\u3067\u306a\u304f\u3001\u8133\u75be\u60a3\u6cbb\u7642\u3078\u306e\u5fdc\u7528\u3068\u3044\u3063\u305f\u793e\u4f1a\u7684\u610f\u7fa9\u306b\u7e4b\u304c\u308b\u5f62\u3067\u7d50\u679c\u3092\u63d0\u793a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>Take-Home Messages<\/strong><br>\r\n<span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>This is just the beginning<\/strong><\/span>, and I hope by the end of my PhD, <span style=\"background-color: #ffff33;color: #fe3d45;\"><strong>I\u2019ll construct a Google brain map to plan the most efficient drug journey into the brain to the development of therapeutic targets for Alzheimer&#8217;s disease<\/strong><\/span>.
